Water Meter and Reading of the Meter
The Amount of Water Used
The amount of water used is recorded precisely on the meter. The meter reader visits you to read your meter on the regionally designated dates.
Should you have any questions about the amount of water you used, please contact the Water Charge Business Center (Tel:054-656-0055)
How to Read the Water Meter
"The white numbers on the black box on the top of the meter are read from left to right. This meter is read as 1,526m³
Please cooperate with us in reading the water meter.
|1. Please do not put anything on the meter box.
||2. Please keep the meter box clean in order to prevent water or dirt from getting inside.
|3. Please move the water meter to a place where it can be read easily if the meter is placed inside of the house or under the floor after refurbishing your house.
||4. Please keep your dog away from the entrance of your premise or the water meter.
Payment of Water Charge
The water charge consists of the basic charge and the metered charge. The basic charge must be paid regardless of the amount of water you have used, and the metered charge is the charge for the amount of water exceeding the basic amount of water.
This is a very convenient system in which your water charge is withdrawn automatically from your account once you apply for it at the financial institution.
- Please bring your personal seal(registered at the financial institution), a receipt of your water charge payment, and your bank book to the financial institution for application.
- This system is very convenient for those who are busy or not home most of the time. Please try this useful system.
This is the system in which you make payments with the bill (the notice of payment) sent by the Waterworks Office at the financial institutions nearest you, or at the Water Charge Business Center （Tel:054-656-0055） by the due date.

Muddy Water and Poor Water Flow
Water Pressure is Constantly Low
Difficulty in water flow might be caused by the problems with the feed pipe.
If so, the pipe is to be replaced by a new one at your own expense.
Murky Water Flows Out of the Faucet
Murky water may come out of the faucet when the speed and the direction of water flow has changed due to the construction or cutting off of the water. In such a case, please leave the water running for a while. Water will soon become clear.
White Water Flows Out of the Faucet
Water turns white due to the many tiny air bubbles which got into the water pipe. The water becomes clear without bubbles after running the water for a while, but the water is safe to drink and use even when it is white
Water may have the smell of chlorine. This is because water is sanitized by chlorine to make it safe for drinking.
To Prepare for Disasters and Other Events
Each Household is the Primary Place to Keep Its Own Drinking Water in Case of Disasters
It is said that a person needs 3L of drinking water per day to live. When a huge earthquake occurs, it is assumed that emergency water supply would not be able to reach you because of collapsed houses and destroyed roads. Thus, we urge you to keep 3L of drinking water per day per person for 3 days on a daily basis.
Many cases of malicious visits by those who pretend to be officers of the waterworks office or those related to the office have been reported.
The waterworks office does not conduct the activities below:
- Sales of water purifiers
- Recommendation of cleaning the feed pipes
- Surveying on the phone or by visiting houses
- Un-requested testing of the water quality or checking of faucets
Please ask for the ID of any person who seems to be suspicious to confirm if he/she is an officer of the waterworks office. Also, please call the office Tel:054-624-0111.
